Chief Ministers Summit commences in Galle

The 32nd Chief Ministers Summit commenced in Hikkaduwa, Galle under the auspicies of President Maithripala Sirisena on Monday morning.
The Chief Ministers’ Summit this time around focusses on the Southern Province.
The summit will see the participation of  chief ministers of the nine provinces in the country.
The previous chief ministers summit took place three years ago, in the Uva Province. This is the first chief ministers summit since President Maithripala Sirisena assumed office.

Cheif Minister of the Southern Province, Shan Wijayalal de Silva is the Chair of summit this time around. The aim of the summit is to harness goodwill and coordination between the provincial councils.
According to our reporter, a media briefing is scheduled to be held following the discussions, with the participation of the chief ministers.
