
In the backdrop of Sri Lanka Tourism giving leadership to the country with a $3 billion dollar net revenue earnings targeted for 2015 with an actual performance of +14.1% in the 1st half, The sought after Professional Women in Management awards presentation 2015 highlighted two high powered tourism personalities to be selected for the coveted " Outstanding contribution to the industry- Tourism" - Mrs. Amal Goonetilleke the Regional Marketing Director for The Taj Group- Sri Lanka and Maldives and Ms. Angeline Ondaatje the Managing Director of Tangerine Hotel Group. The presentation was made by Acting Deputy Chief of Mission of the US Embassy Rachna Korhonen in the presence of Deputy Minister Policy Planning and Chairman Sri Lanka Tourism Dr. Rohantha Athukorala.

Ms.
Angeline Myrese Ondaatjie, B.Sc from MIT (USA) serves as a Managing
Director of Tangerine Tours (Pvt) Ltd whilst also being the Joint
Managing Director at Royal Palms Beach Hotels PLC and Tangerine Beach
Hotels PLC. She has over 15 years’ experience in the tourism, financial
services and manufacturing sectors. She is also an Executive Director at
The Nuwara Eliya Hotels Company PLC and a strong personality in the Sri
Lanka Tourism Promotional Bureau in the Government of Sri Lanka.
The
Chairman Sri Lanka Tourism commenting in the winners mentioned "We are
honoured to have two top professionals from the industry to serve the
country at the highest level. I am more delighted that their efforts
have been recognized by a respected organization like Women in
Management which was sponsored by World Bank ( IFC). The challenge is
how we can now build the next level of leadership so that there is
continuity in the industry that is moving away from the traditional
business structure to a more tech savvy on-line model " he said.
