Jaylalitha Jayaram writes to Indian PM over Indian fishermen

Tamilnadu Chief Minister Jayalalitha Jayaram has addressed a letter to Indian Premier Narandra Modi to intervene in releasing the Indian fishermen in Sri Lankan custody.
Indian media reported that the letter was addressed following the arrest of 29 Indian fishermen by the Sri Lankan Navy on March 6. Sixty four Indian fishermen and 77 fishing vessels are currently in Sri Lankan custody.


Jayalalitha Jayaram wrote to Premier Modi requesting for proper attention towards an intervention in releasing the Indian fishermen.
When News1st contacted Minister of Fisheries Mahinda Amaraweera, he stated that no decision has been made regarding the release of the Indian fishermen.
The minister added that the navy has been notified to broaden efforts to arrest Indian fishermen who violate the maritime boundary of Sri Lanka.
