Sri Lanka Navy apprehended two persons, in Madugal area Jaffna, while
attempting to smuggle 6.94 kgs of gold worth nearly Rs. 34.5 million by
a fishing boat.
The suspects were on an attempt to transfer the stock of gold by means of a dinghy in disguise pretending they were fishermen. However the navy was able to identify the racketeers in a sudden raid carried out.
The suspects along with the stock of gold, were handed over to the custom officials of Jaffna for onward legal action.
