North Korea is in the process of developing solid-fuel rockets: South Korean Defense Ministry

South Korea’s Defense Ministry confirmed that its Northern neighbor was in the process of developing solid-fuel rockets.
“(North Korea) seems to be at the stage of developing solid-fuel rockets. As a matter of security postures, strengthened military readiness posture has been maintained since the North’s recent
nuclear test on January 6,” said South Korean Defence Ministry spokesman Moon Sang-gyun
The Ministry spokesperson added that North Korea’s development of nuclear and missile programmes is for showing off at home and abroad.
Pyongyang’s claim indicates it is continuing to develop an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) at a rapid pace in defiance of U.N. sanctions while South Korean officials believe that the isolated Northern regime could conduct a new nuclear test at any time.
The North said last week it had conducted a successful simulated test of atmospheric re-entry of a ballistic missile and the country would soon test ballistic missiles capable of carrying nuclear warheads.Pyongyang has previously launched long-range rockets which used liquid fuel but it was seen to lack the capability to build solid-fuel long-range or intercontinental missiles
