
Today (22nd March) Sri Lanka marks the World Water Day. This year’s celebrations will follow the theme “Water and Job”.
The Ministry of City Planning and Water
Supply in co-operation with the National Water Supply and Drainage Board
will conduct the key event at the BMICH under the patronage of the
President Maithripala Sirisena.
The key note address of the event will
be delivered by Prof. Sarath Wijesuriya. Additionally, several school
level competitions, seminars, mobile community services will be held and
the sectorial progress of the Water Supply Board will also be
felicitated.

Supply Rauf Hakeem, State Minister of City Planning and Water Supply
Sudarshani Fernandopulle will participate the occasion.
The World Water Day was proclaimed by the UN in 1992 and is celebrated since 1993.
