
The government will soon take steps to draft a National Fisheries Policy.
According to the Minister of Fisheries
and Aquatic Resources Mahinda Amaraweera, a group comprised with
representatives from all parties, and the Provincial Councils Ministers
and officials will support the purpose.
“This is a National Policy, which is not changing with the elections”, Minister said.
In addition, Minister assured that the
vessels arrested for poaching in Sri Lankan waters would not be released
and raids would be continued.
