Housing loans for widows to repair the houses

The Ministry of Women and Child Affairs and the Ministry of Housing will initiate a program to provide loan facilities for the widows in each Divisional Secretariat to repair the houses.

Under the project Rs.50, 000 will be given to each widow as a loan. The loan could be settled by instalments of Rs.500/-.

In addition, the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs with the assistance of Ministry of Primary Industries will implement another program to engage women for the gardening and to export their production. The district-wise trade fairs will also be established to provide them with facilities to sell their products.

These projects are part of the International Women’s Day program on 8th March.
